Fransine is with her 19 years of age not just the herd president, but also the oldest Highland Cattle cow in Denmark. In early 2008 she had a heifer calf and is now a mother of 9 females and 1 bull. She is dark red and has some impressive long horns. She was 16 years old when we bought her and we selected her because she has proven by own production, as was amply demonstrated that she possesses the Highland Cattle gene for longevity. The long lasting gene, she has from her sire, the Scottish stock bull Fearghus of Glengorm, who today is the sire of 5 of the 10 oldest cows in Denmark. |
